European supervisors have tightened reporting obligations on stablecoin issuers, moving reserve attestation from a quarterly to a monthly cadence and requiring disclosure of custodial concentration.

The concentration requirement is the more consequential of the two. Several large issuers hold reserves with a small number of institutions, a dependency that has not previously been visible.

Issuers have argued that monthly attestation imposes cost without materially improving assurance. Supervisors have countered that the previous cadence left too long a window.
